About Us

Vince Ayd & Ayd Hardware
Vince Ayd, Proprietor
Ayd Hardware was founded in 1974 as a local family hardware and custodial supply company.

Back then the store was one of many hardware stores in the area focused on serving the community. The spread of the "big box" stores through the '80s and '90s made it tough for many of these great family stores to keep their doors open. During this period of time, Ayd Hardware decided it needed to change its focus from supply to service and convenience.

In 1994, the store moved from its original location in the 6800 block of York Road to the 6700 block. The move was crucial to downsizing the business and focusing on customer service. We knew that while the big box stores might be able to shave a few pennies off our prices (we're surprisingly competitive), they would never be able to compete with us in commitment to our neighborhood and the quality of the personalized customer care we continue to offer.

6801 York RoadWe were excited in the early part of this millenium when an opportunity arose for us to move back to the block where it all started and into an historic building in the Stoneleigh neighborhood, an original A&P grocery store. The facility was perfect for us - larger, more convenient for customers, and with the flexibility to allow us to stick to our mantra of business, community and service. The stars aligned perfectly for the business and, in 2006, we settled at 6801 York Road, ready to call this location home.

Through the years, our location may have changed but the mission has always been same. Here at Ayd Hardware we never lose focus on what’s important, getting you what you need, when you need it, in a timely manner. We know that your time is valuable and that knowledge is power. Not only are we capable of getting you what you need, but we also believe in empowering our customers to do jobs for themselves.

We our proud to be part of your community and look forward to serving you and future generations of “Do-It-Yourselfers."
